BONUS REVIEW by Rick Berg

So I tried reading Death Metal #1. It was incoherent in the first 3 pages and I stopped reading it. Then I read Shawn’s review. It felt like he Googled death metal names to make me entertained. It worked. I liked his review. His review made me want to read the comic. I read the comic…. Metal read like a music super group of pop artists trying to make what they thought was a heavy metal album but missed the mark and made a dub step album. A pretty terrible one at that. Death Metal reads like that super group is trying to make a death metal album this time simply by adding some corpse paint and more studs. The result? Another dub step album but with more zombie looking dudes. It’s not as bad yet but the merchandizing this time will be even more profitable. Go read Nailbiter Returns. A much much better sequel that does not require you to have listened to 25 issues of Justice League.

I give it 5 out of 10 Grahams

COUNTERPOINT REVIEW:

Reviews

Well, it's a bat___-crazy comic book for bat___-crazy times. Like a Morbid Angel writing an Obituary for the very concept of reboots, Scott Snyder sees Death at the Gates in the form of an army of Cannibal Corpses trying to devour DC's legacy. Death metal fans loved that sentence, while most of you were just wondering what I was trying to say. Welcome to Metal.
Clearly, Scott Snyder is the Zack Snyder of comics. "Got some nifty things I'd like to see drawn, sure hope the story works!" seems to be the battle cry here. If you loved Sucker Punch, regardless of being able to defend that love, Death Metal is a gem of glorious nonsense that will no doubt tickle your tinnitis (which is the name of my new Death Metal band. Our current album "Beaten Pulp" drops today). Highly recommended for anybody that attempted to understand the last series, anybody who isn't too cool to acknowledge that the Chainsaw of Truth is just bitchin', and those who have always wanted to see a Batman who can never do a push-up...
